For the following collage, I found the overall design of the windows surrounding the gardens fascinating in a sense that often, the windows would be designed around complicated patterns to form a whole window shape. This particular window for example, utilizes what can be seen as ‘tetris’ motifs. This gives the window a particularly sharp-edged look.
I intended to illustrate its complicated design by separating the images of the background found within these motifs, to show the audience the tedious nature of its design. Arranging the shapes in their original position next to the window frame would not have done this justice, which is why I decided on giving the collage an exploded feel (several pieces missing).
