For the very first collage, I went about with a very basic understanding of collage composition. At this point, I had not begun to plan in advance the overall theme and message of the particular collages. The pictures that were taken were snapped according to my level of interest in relation with the events or objects being photographed. There was also, at this point, not much thought being put into the framing and capturing of the Chinese gardens particularly, and I could go as far as to say that I did not keep in mind that the aim of the collages was the Chinese Gardens.
Having said that, I went about this collage by trying to sum up what I thought of my visit to the first garden in Suzhou. I noticed many repetitions of the use of hexagons in the architecture of the garden. Be it window frames, floor tiles, etc. The collage is meant to illustrate my thoughts being gathered throughout the day, being centered on these hexagon shapes, and what came out of it to be many ideas about the gardens being represented by the rocks. The images are imitating a funnel to illustrate my point.
